In May of 1990, the citizens of Terrell voted for a $.005 cent increase in sales tax to fund economic development. December of 1990 saw the first deposits to the fund that generates approximately $550,000 per year for the construction of roads, water and sewer lines, grants and low-interest loans. The key factors in the expenditure of funds are new jobs created and total project investments. The sales tax deposits have continued to grow each year.
