Terrell EDC Board Members Complete State of Texas Economic Development Sales Tax Workshop

Terrell, TX – The Terrell Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is proud to announce that Board Members Bruce Wood and Shameta Wilson have successfully completed the State of Texas Economic Development Sales Tax Workshop, reinforcing their commitment to responsible governance and strategic economic development in Terrell.

The Economic Development Sales Tax Workshops are designed specifically for EDC Board Members and local elected officials governing Type A and Type B Corporations. These workshops provide essential training on:

  • Economic and community development strategies

  • Permissible projects under state law

  • Recent legislative updates impacting Economic Development Sales Tax Law

  • Compliance with the Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act

As part of the workshop, Wood and Wilson received certification in both the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act, ensuring adherence to transparency and best practices in public service. The training also included a Q&A session with industry experts, allowing participants to engage in meaningful discussions about current economic development policies and trends.

This workshop is required training under Texas Local Government Code Section 502.101, which mandates that Board Members of Type A and Type B Economic Development Corporations complete this education to ensure compliance with state regulations and responsible stewardship of sales tax revenues allocated for economic growth.

“The Terrell EDC Board is dedicated to staying informed and compliant with state laws governing economic development,” said Terrell EDC President, Carlton Tidwell. “Bruce Wood and Shameta Wilson’s completion of this important training further strengthens our ability to guide strategic projects, attract new businesses, and support sustainable community growth.”
