Terrell Economic Development Corporation Honored with 2025 Workforce Excellence Award

Jun 24, 2025

TERRELL, TX – The Terrell Economic Development Corporation (Terrell EDC) is proud to announce it has been awarded the 2025 Workforce Excellence Award by the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC). Terrell was recognized as the top community in the 15,001 to 40,000 population category for its outstanding contributions to workforce development in the state of Texas.

The award was presented during the TEDC’s Mid-Year Conference held on June 19, 2025, in Rockwall, Texas, where communities and organizations from across the state were celebrated for their innovative and impactful workforce initiatives.

“This recognition reflects the strength of our partnerships and the community’s proactive approach to growing a workforce that meets the demands of today and tomorrow,” said Carlton Tidwell, President of the Terrell Economic Development Corporation. “We’re proud to lead efforts that connect education, industry, and opportunity—and we’re just getting started.”

The TEDC’s Workforce Excellence Awards recognize exceptional contributions by Texas communities and regions that have successfully implemented initiatives to enhance their local workforce. Applications were judged on five criteria: innovativeness, transferability, community commitment and leverage, measured objectives, and secondary benefits.

Terrell was one of seven recipients across the state to be honored in their respective population categories. The city was recognized alongside other distinguished communities, including Tomball, Pharr, New Braunfels, Lubbock, The Borderplex Alliance, and Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas.

Organized in 1961, the Texas Economic Development Council is the largest state association of economic development professionals in the nation, with over 1,050 members. Its mission is to promote economic growth across Texas through education, advocacy, and collaboration.
