The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is home to several institutions of higher learning including these colleges and universities located close to Terrell.



Trinity Valley Community College

The Terrell campus teaches a cadre of general education courses that transfer to senior colleges, as well as occupational courses in: accounting, business and office technology, child development, computer science, cosmetology, criminal justice, fire science technology, horticulture, management, and prerequisites for nursing.

Trinity Valley Community College

Trinity Valley Community College Nursing Program

The Vocational Nursing Program at Trinity Valley Community College is a one-year, 59 credit hour curriculum leading to a certificate in Vocational Nursing. Graduates are recommended to the Texas Board of Nursing to be approved to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) to qualify as a licensed vocational nurse. The Health Occupations Division has two vocational nursing programs.

Southwestern Christian College

Terrell campus has an enrollment of 250 students. The college offers fully accredited associate degree programs in general studies and a bachelor’s degree program in Bible. The up-to-date library, business, and computer science technology programs help prepare students for careers or further education while studying in a Christian environment.

Collin College Rockwall Center

Collin College offers courses to the community in Rockwall at the Rockwall Center located at 2610 Observation Trail. Community members may enroll in day or evening classes designed to transfer to universities.  Classes are offered at this location during the Fall and Spring semesters. The only public college in the county, Collin College offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines.

Texas A&M – Commerce at Rockwall

Texas A&M University-Commerce at Rockwall offers a Masters in Education (MEd) in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Doctoral in Education (EdD) in Supervision, Curriculum and Instruction. Also offers a BA/BS in Paralegal studies and courses towards a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, pending the approval of a full degree.

Eastfield College

Eastfield College is a comprehensive community college founded by the Dallas County Community College District in 1970. El Centro College - became the flagship college of the district. Its name reflects the center of the downtown area. El Centro first opened its campus doors in 1966.

Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry -  is a synergistic environment where students learn life lessons -- in addition to dental medicine -- from a diverse patient population. These patients help prepare TAMBCD students for the real-life challenges and opportunities awaiting them upon graduation.

Since its founding, TAMBCD has graduated more than 9,000 dentists and dental hygienists. The college is known internationally for producing excellent clinicians. More than half of all the dentists in the Dallas/Fort Worth area received their dental education at the college, and nearly one-third of all dentists in Texas are TAMBCD graduates. Enrollment for the 2013-2014 academic year was 594, and 93 percent of dental graduates during the same period were licensed in Texas.

Located next to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Hospital, and Children’s Medical Center, the TWU T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences-Dallas Center programs focus on use of innovative teaching methodologies to enhance student learning. Faculty have been highly involved in developing evidence-based scenarios for human patient simulators and using them in a variety of research studies. Many courses use a hybrid model that embraces both online instruction and face-to-face interaction.
